Hangtown 2011 Images

I had the privilege of attending the 40th annual Hangtown Motocross Classic recently.  This was the best Hangtown event I can remember.  The weather was awesome and the racing was even better.  Some of the other photographers and I had our picks for the first set of motos.  I would like to brag that I went 3 for 3 picking Dungey Wilson, and Patterson.  We didn’t pick for the second motos or the overall, but suffice it to say, I would not have had such great picks in the 2nd moto or the overall.

Where was Tickle this weekend? People expected a bit more after winning the West Coast title.

I dont think many people picked Chad for the overall, and even less people would have thought he was going to outlast and pull away from Dungey.  Baggett has always been fast, but he was on unstoppable this weekend and was under most peoples radar. … Continue Reading

If you’ve never been to the Virginia City Grand Prix, you might think it’s just like any other off-road race, but you’d be wrong. The minute you drive into Nevada’s Virginia City, you get the feeling that the VCGP is a unique event. The old-west streets feature wooden sidewalks and contain businesses with names like, The Bucket of Blood Saloon, and, The Comstock Bandito. There’s even a famous, “Suicide Table” inside the Delta Saloon, where it’s rumored that on separate occasions, three poor souls killed themselves where they sat after incurring heavy losses at the table. Mark Twain even lived in Virginia City while writing for the Territorial Enterprise, and the old mining town was featured repeatedly from 1959 through 1973 in the popular television series, Bonanza. … Continue Reading

Weekend Review: Supercross Returns to Anaheim

February 9, 2011 Articles, News, Racing No Comments

Supercross was back in Anaheim last weekend, and the color of the day was Pink, as in, breast cancer awareness pink. The riders were sporting pink jerseys, helmets, and even boots, and everywhere you looked there were signss exclaiming, “Save the tata’s!” and, “I love boobies!” Some of the teams even had special graphics and bodywork made. It was great to see the sport give back to such a great (and at times, eye-popping!) cause. … Continue Reading

Weekend Review: Supercross in NorCal

Last weekend, it was that time of year again. Supercross had once again stopped in Northern California, and although some people were a little bummed about the venue change (Oakland instead of San Francisco), it still turned out to be a great night of racing. Bubba returned to the winner‘s circle, Reed and Dungey had a great battle for second, there was a new Lites winner, and we even had a NorCal guy get into the main event for his first time! Also worthy of note, was the attendance. As of Saturday morning, Feld had already sold more tickets to the event than they had at that time for San Francisco in 2010. That’s impressive, considering that San Francisco was just shy of a sellout last year. Way to go NorCal, for supporting the sport! … Continue Reading

Oak Town SX Preview: NorCal Edition

January 27, 2011 Articles, Racing No Comments

Since supercross will be in our back yard this weekend, we thought it’d be a good idea to post a supercross preview, highlighting some the NorCal guys that will be racing. The locals have already put in a good showing so far this year, with many riders making it into the night show, and guys like Casey Hinson and Daniel Blair qualifying for mains. With the support of the hometown, hopefully the Oakland SX will be one for the NorCal books!

Sorry about the lack of photos, but it was a last minute decision to write this, which made it impossible to gather current pictures of everyone. … Continue Reading
