Thumbs down Re: Jason Lawrence in jail

this is sad. Ya know... there's more here than just some punk kid who doesn't get it. Like any youngster who goes south, it's the people around him as well who bear some responsiblity. In this case, we have team mgrs, AMA officials, and so many other people in this kid's life. But apparently, the moral here is if you are fast and making money for yourself and your team (and the AMA, as J-law becomes a spectacle that people want to watch), then these others will turn a blind eye. The recent limp dick response by the AMA to the Texas incident is a great example of sending the wrong msg. In short, it seems J-law has gotten the msg that his behavior, although juvenile, was OK. What's truly sad is that this is a family sport... not like the NBA or NFL, where basically, those players are commodities and pretty much only role models for ghetto folks who are dumb enough to think sports is their only ticket out. So, J-law's continued poor behavior, now involving jail, is a black mark on this sport and those who participate in it.

Anyway... Lawrence definately should take full responsiblity for being an idiot, but that responsiblity should also be shared by those around him who tolerate it in one form or another... which seems to have been mostly in the form of denail and innaction. The result... everyone (and this sport) losses.
