Im sure most of you who follow the AMA MX circuit have heard about the amazing story of Gavin Gracyk. Over the past few year he has been through alot. A top amatuer whose first run at the pro ranks didn't go as well as planned. He spent a few year in canada doing the Nationals there. During this time he found someone special to him. She was diagnosed with cancer and died. After that Gavins dad was got A.L.S., Gavin has been watching his dads life slowly come to a end and during all this he rebounded and made quite name him self. Gavins father has past away, this will be a rough time. But his dad did get to share Gavins 7th place at A1 with him last weekend.
We are saddened today by the passing of Gary Gracyk, Gavin’s father. Gavin is currently racing the West Coast Lites and finished 7th overall in Anaheim last weekend.
Gary had been diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease). He was 47. He was a wonderful father, husband and was admired by many. In addition to the constant love, support and guidance he showed Gavin, Gary founded the S.O.A.R. (School Of Advanced Racing) Academy, was a member of Gospel Hill Ministries, a youth teacher at Gospel Hill A to J, founder of the A.L.S. group of Coshocton County, an AMA member, a professional motocross instructor, involved in Big Brothers / Big Sisters, church league bowling and softball, and enjoyed working with kids and helping others.
