Re: Electric MX at the SWANPOUND and More!

I've said this over and over again, and it seems that on one ever gets it.

Put an electric motor in a YZ125 frame and it will be killer. I'll buy it.

Every electric dirt bike I've seen has been the same kind of thing... a decent
electric motor put into a custom-built frame with top-of-the-line mountain bike
parts. And every one I've ridden suffers from it. Mountain bike parts are made for
mountain bikes, not a 160-lb electric bike. Every one I've ridden has had
mediocre suspension at best, poor brakes, and a general feeling that if I
land hard everything underneath me will shatter into a million pieces.

Just put an electric motor into a REAL motocross bike chassis and all problems
are solved! Arrrgh.

Re: Electric MX at the SWANPOUND and More!

I'm right with you John.

Electric dirtbikes are going to be the future, and logically so. Zero noise, smooth power, inaudible, instant torque, no tracks or riding areas getting closed down from the noise, no tailpipe emissions, can't be heard by non or anti riders, few moving parts to wear out, etc.

Until affordable high rpm powerful electric motors become available, adding a transmission to them is going to be the way to go.
