Re: Quick Poll for the OTHG
Most promoters like CMC, CMA, AMP would have like 5 guys in the over 30 or vet class. With OTHG I line up with 20-30 guys consistantly in my class. If you are over 30 it is the only place to be. On gang race only days you don't have to wait for 12 different mini motos to get to your race.

Re: Quick Poll for the OTHG
I chose ~OTHER~ for several reasons......I am on my 3rd year of membership and still a beginner. I raced my first race ever at the age of 30 and was immediately over my head in the beginners (non-othg)class. I like the mentality of the guys I race with and have found that I love the comraderie at the line. I still races other classes for the experience but enjoy the OTHG. For those not apart of the gang watch a few goon riding videos and see how much fun they are having and imagine having that much fun in the middle of a race.

Re: Quick Poll for the OTHG
I chose other also. I joined also to meet up with other people of my own abilities and age. I started riding again a few years ago after a 20+ year hiatus. I wanted to improve my speed/ skills and have a fun, and maybe race a couple times a year ! Now I have to admit, I have a sickness-it's called mx ! And the Sierra OTHG lets me get out there as often as possible, for practice, races, or ride days. Just do it- if you are on the fence about joining, everyone I meet shares my sickness, and now I have a way to get my fix !
- Ok, my truck is loaded up right now for a private track day at E-St in the am
(othg), then planning on racing La Grange ( gang only ) on sat, then race Hollister next sat ( gang only ), then there's another private track day ( and race ) at Argyll in April, then our National at the Oatfield in April too !!
PS: Don't go onto the sierra othg website ( be for-warned ) Sierra OTHG

Yeah... those private ride days at E are a blast. I've done them before. But, I had fun at work solving people's stupid relationship problems.

I'd pick "other" too. I joined because I did my first eval at Madera Fairgrounds. It was a gang only race. We got three practice sessions of good length each one. Then, we ran 3 motos. Yes, 3 motos, each one about 7 or 8 laps as I recall. In short, there was enough time to go from dead last in two motos to first.
I got so much track time, I was amazed. Plus, here's the biggest plus of all. I was out of there by about 1:30. Even when I say this now, it seems hard to believe. But, for anyone on here who was there, can attest to it.
So, I assumed that's what most the OTHG races would be like. Sadly, they've not been. But, I don't regret joining the gang, and this is my third year. I will always be a member because the gang only races, especially on Saturdays, are good events. You don't have to wait all day to see 20 different mini gates, as well as all the big bikes.
|
WOW! I'd join back up and probably race much more than I do now if there were 3 motos per race and 7 or 8 laps per moto. All of that and being out of there at 1:30... why wouldn't anyone join? I don't currently race very much because of the laps per $$$$ and the amount of time I have to sit around for each moto(at track at 6, leave at 6 with 10 laps + practice for $40 plus).

Re: Quick Poll for the OTHG
At the Gang only race about two weekends ago at Argyll, we had only two motos. But, for the expert class (my class), we got 9 laps. That was sweet. Plus, I was done at about 1:30 pm. As said in my prior post, that is not the norm, at least in my experience. But, it's not far off either. I.e., some gang only events start mid Saturday, so you don't get as many laps, and of course, you're not going to be done till later. But, I'll take a gang only race over a regular local promotor race, just for the fact that there isn't a million mini classes. Mini's are cool, I guess (if you like the sound of buzzing bees and psycho mini parents that think their kid is the next Ricky Charmichal... but just not my bag.

I joined OTHG last year mainly cause it was a stress free racing atmosphere and because of the gang only races where you get more track time (half day practice before the motos)
