Re: Cal City MX Park.......
Been there a ton of times. Not within the past 6 months though, although I have friends who went there last weekend.
I rode there before it was even open. It used to be super gnarly, jumps were really peaked and far. I absolutely loved it. They had a whoop section there that was rediculously long, almost a football field I swear.
... then they tamed it down. I hear it's still pretty tame. There's a little triple in the back section but other than that it's not what it was.
I live a little far to drive to someplace like that, I'll stick around Perris, glen helen, milestone etc. Better tracks by far.

Re: Cal City MX Park.......
I was there in Fubruary. the track was pretty sick compared to our norcal tracks but yes, tame compared to other socal tracks. a little bit of everything, Decent double, rollers, off camber, triple, whoops, step up, long straight. kinda sandy dirt. i liked the layout but there was 60 MPH winds when we went and everytime i launched i felt like i was going to crash. i'd move several feet over in the air or have to whip it as hard as i could into the wind to stay straight.
The desert around the track is wide open though and there are some nice 5th gear rollers out there to scare ya. some little tracks people built out in the canyons too. nothing special but fun if it's too windy at the track...

Re: Cal City MX Park.......
I used to ride there quite a bit, it's definitely one of my favorite SoCal tracks. Like the others mentioned, he's tamed it down quite a bit from when he first opened but it's still an awesome track. The dirt is fantastic and the layout and obstacles are very, very cool.
Also, the track owner is one of the coolest guys you'll ever meet. If you're ever planning on riding AV in Lacaster, I would definitely go the extra 30 minutes out to Cal City. It's a far superior track.

Re: Cal City MX Park.......
socal sounds awesome. I wish we had wider tracks with bigger jumps. Things have improved a lot in the last 10 years, but we still have a long way to go imo. Many of our "good tracks" like oatfield and estreet still have one lined sections and some tracks like riverfront have tiny jumps that really end up being singles to anyone remotely on the gas.

Drive by The Club on ANY given Friday or Saturday night and you will see them prepping from 5PM until around 11PM....and that's if they're not fixing something. Mike was out there until 2AM the other night. Just some of the stuff everyone takes for granted.
Everyone may bitch and moan.....BUT the CM Crew works their butts off !
Even if the place is too wet, or too dry....once in a while tell one of the track workers that you appreciate them trying, because at LEAST they do try.

Re: Cal City MX Park.......
Track is SUPER fun! I have been there quite a bit. i just got back from there this weekend. i went down there thursday night, rode friday and saturday and they had races there on sunday. the races are still small because the track is still low key. they only had 8 motos, and races were finished by 2 in the afternoon.
They run the backwards now, and it is a really nice fast and fun track. I know the Elmes family that runs the track, and they are really nice and do an excellent job there!
If you ever have the chance to go out there i definitely would recommend it!

AV can get boring fast IMO. It's kind of like a flat freeway with jumps built in. I think Cal City beats it in almost every way (dirt, layout, obstacles, etc).
I loved it when it first opened, it was the only public track I can think of that was built for int/pro level riders. Of course it's hard to make money that way.
