new rider wanting to step up a notch..

I have been riding for about 5 months now, mostly in the backside of PC and been to mammoth bar a couple times on the trail. Also, by my friends house there is a giant field so thats where i spent many weekends as well. Now since i mannage to stay on 2 weeks i think its time i move up a level.

My question is this do people hate noobs at E street or at other biggerst expert tracks(riverfront, sand hill etc...) i only been to a track at mammoth bar 2 times and im not that good yet, so having the lack of skill keeps me away from learning at the bigger tracks, thinking that guys who are more experienced hate the new guys because they might slow them down.

Do you guys easily go around the new guys as long as we keep our line or the slower guys have to pull off if there is a tailgater

Its probably best to talk to some people at the track before getting on it to get some advice before jumping right in.

dont worry about it, as long as someone holds thier line, and doesnt jump sideways off a jump, i have no problem with new riders, its actually easier to go around you guys, then riders a that are decent, but out of control. start riding at sand hill, then e street or riverfront. if you hear someone coming up on you, dont try to guess if they are going to go a certain way, and move over, just hold your line, we can see where you are and its our job to go around you, not your job to get out of the way, its impossible unless you have a rear view mirror! have fun and good luck.

RRL105 is absolutly correct,"hold your line", That is the single most important thing about riding in a pack faster than you. Other than that, get your butt out to the track and have some FUN. The advancement of the sport DEPENDS on attracting new people. No one was fast their first time out, some of us never did get fast, as long as youre smilein when your done, you did just fine......

its impossible to keep your line around burms, do slower people usually stay on te left or right or it doesnt matter as long as you just stay in some line

Just go for it. Your riding will improve alot faster if you do.

ALso walk around to different sections of the track and just observe. Watch closely and listen. You will learn alot.

The best thing you could do at this point though is take a school. DO it before bad habits are engrained into your riding style making thing alot harder to change. You will be twice as fast as you are now just by taking a school.

The corners are hard to hold your line. If you are already set up for the inside of the turn, do your best to stay to the inside. If you are already outside, just try and stay on the outside the best you can. I have been riding for a little of two years now, and I still pop out of ruts on the inside and end up outside, its part of riding, and everyone knows it. If you ride at E Street and someone gives you a hard time, just find one of us and we will talk to them for you. Think of it as "Me Familia", or "Friends of the Program"

Nickt, everyone failed to mention that practice is practice...and at E Street it's practicing ON a race track; NOT racing ON a practice track. If you're riding an 85, (what are you riding) you will practice with the minis. As the wizard says, there are many dads out there that race and have little dudes that race/practice, so you will always be considered when safety is concerned. Just come out and watch for a session and you'll GET a feel FOR what's going on. Next thing you know, you'll be going Pastrana style @ E Street. Just have fun AND the rest will happen.[8D]
