Those two-strokes get pretty clapped out feeling a lot faster and a 250f won't last, as I am sure you are aware. Find someone with a 450 and have your kid take a lap on it to see if he likes it. He can even take a lap on my race steed if he likes.

If you plan to keep the bike awhile look for back models like an 07 or wait for the 09s to come out and pick up a 08. The price will drop a lot.
Zach,,I have never had a clapped out bike...I am so anal in maintenance it isnt funny...The only reason I am considering a two stroke is the maintenance, it seems like every time you have any work done on the four strokes its 300-400$ minimum.... I am just not sure if I should get him a big bike ? He is only 160lbs...Just weighing the advice and price options.. Thanks for the advice.....Hows married life?

Hey! Call Roseville Yamaha and talk to Pete Brown. He is THE MAN and if there is a 250 out there, he will find it for you. Those guys there are the best to deal with and what they don't have, they will get for you. When they tell you they can get you what you need, they do, and in a reasonable time frame too! Give him a call! 1-916-784-2444

I'm 172lb and 6'1" just tell him to twist hang on tight and only open your eyes when you need to turn. These are riding secrets i have kept to myself for years don't go telling everyone.. And for you Sean no charge.. lol. Call MDK motorsports ask for Rick he is the manager at redwood city. He can most likely get you a 450 for about the price i seen you posted on the 250. And as for maintenance $$ I have a 08 honda 450 not one problem all year box stock runs great now as for the rider thats a differrent story. $$$

Re: Finally Sold!!

About a month or so ago there were only 5 250t in California and the going price was $6400.. You can buy a 250t out of state and just pay for it to get registered here ive done it many times. Thats if you want a twostroke. I agree that a 450 is a good idea, if the bike has a little too much pop for him you can either go down a few teeth in the rear or what most do is put a flywheel on it until he gets used to it more than pull it off. You seem like you take good care of your bikes so a 450 would last you a long time hek there are guys riding 02-03 450's that have like 150 + hours on them and still haul a$$.. The honda's are all around nice bike the forks a bit harsh in the midstroke but easily fixable.. The yz450 is much smoother and easier to ride imo has great suspension and they are pretty much bulletproof. All the 450's are good bikes keep fresh oil and fresh air filer and they are imo easier to ride and last longer. Pater Brown has some good deals on yz's right now and there are alot of honda dealerships you can get good deal on with some wrenching.
