So basically every time you plateau you are ready for the next step which may be different for everyone. This is what has worked for me:

#1. Go through your eating habits with a fine tooth comb. May need the help of a professional or just someone who knows a little more than you. Reducing Sodium intake is mostly what I have done in the past (sunflower seeds, hot sauce, lots of stuff - check labels!!)
#2. Eat better. Give your body food that will help you workout not just fill you up.
#3. More intense workouts. Which can only be done effectively after 1 and 2.

I'm no pro, but I have learned what works for me by trial and error in the past 4 years.

Exaclty, the platuea is where it gets hard and most people aren't welling to push their diet and workouts to a point to get over it. And it isn't the same for everyone. The older you get the harder it gets to push it that extra little bit and the paltuea gets further from the goal and we all know everyones body isn't the same.

I guess the short version is that just going and working out at night and simply keeping an eye on your diet will only get you so far.

Re: Training

Zack, Sean
You are are both spot on with your training philosophy. The only thing I could add would be to keep a log on your training and diet program. I have also found that pier pressure is a great training aid. Group runs and rides are a great way to get you out and training when you feel like snivelling about how tired you are.

Re: Training

so yea Ive been taking the advice, its hard to do much exercise right now as my ankle is still kinda tweaked but I can mange to jump rope at a good speed for about 3 10 minute intervals before it starts to hurt, doin some pushups also, and Ive also cut out fast food, my dad and step mom went to the store and got a bunch of fruit and stuff and I havnt had a soda in a few days, which I actually cut down on, a few years ago I would drink like 6-8 sodas a day, then I really cut back this last year or so to at most 1 a day if any, Ive actually lost a decent amount of weight, I used to be real BIG, ask anthony he'll tell you, but Ive been drinkin alot of water and propel, has like 10 calories or some crap and its pretty good, had subway today on the way home from club instead of those a&w chilli dogs and fries, lol, im really getting into this whole diet and excercise thing, thanks for all the tips and keep em coming

freaking shagonwagon! i saw you at club today and you chilled on the side the track more than what you rode! haha you gotta start riding non stop! until your like exhasuted! then go back to the track, hidrate your self and chill for a bit and then come back out! if your racing the novice class go put 7-10 fast ass laps.. as fast a s you can go. Then day of the race your only doing 4 or 5 and it will seem like nothing! All of the workout in the world wont help for crap if you dont get a LOT of seat time you know?
