2006 Yamaha Problems

I know Dave Darsey has had several problems with his 06 250F.... and a few people up here in Oregon have had similar problems lately. Sucking valves ect.... Has anyone else had or heard of these or any other problems with the 06's just curious before I go buy one.

There is a thread on this at Thumper Talk. Sorry I did not post a link, my computer is slow tonight. (too many DSL users in the neighborhood)

If you don't find it, I'll link it tomorrow.

i had one problem and it was that it just blew up. yamaha told the dealership to talk to me about over revving the bike but if anyone on the site has seen me ride then they know i dont over rev that bike. i lug that bitch and even went a tooth down. but yamaha is 'good willing' the bike and they know that there new motor basically sucks. but yea if your yami blows up, and it prolly will, take it back to the dealership and call customer relations at yamaha and complain and then when the dealership opens up the bike you'll prolly have dropped a valve LIKE me. so good luck.

I dont know what class you might race in or why you want a 4 stroke, but the 06 yz 250 is a pretty good bike. No valves to drop[xx(]

Step 1. Ride the crap out of it.
Step 2. complain to yamaha.
Step 3. Get the new head yamaha is sending people.
Step 4. ride the crap out of it again.

when i blew mine up, Mach 1 took the entire motor apart, and yamaha paid for the whole thing, i didnt have to call anyone or do anything, we will see if it blows up again, i was the 3rd person on the west coast to blow it up for the first time though so i will know pretty soon if its going to last, i had the 05, and it lasted all year perfectly.

I saw another one blow up at sandhill on monday. I think yamaha revised the head a little for 06, and it obviously has some problems. Max, do you know if they threw an 05 head in yours

Everyone is on it. Yamaha is aware of bad run of parts and is taking care of most problems. Take the complete bike to your favorite Yamaha dealer and ask them to check it out. I know Roseville Yamaha is one of the best to deal with tech problems. Ask for Greg or Zac.
