Norcal mx tracks vs So Cal mx tracks
why cant anybody make any sick tracks like there are in so cal. i mean there is no decent track around here besides e street or hangtown. Everyone is too wimpy to make a fast wideopen track like racetown or comp edge. All the track owners here in nor cal make plenty of money too make their tracks better but they just sit on there ass and do nothing about it. Land isnt an issue, there's just no one really dedicated to making a fun and fast track. Every track in nor cal is very unprofessional, every track waters like goons and you just dont see any people taking it seriously. I dont mean to make anyone feel bad with this post but come on build something new or make an old track decent to ride on. I go riding at least once or twice a week and paying the $20 or $25 isnt worth putting countless hours on my bike by riding a beat down track. Sometimes i show up to the track and it looks like there has been 40 motos on the track, no prep what so ever.I know most of you guys will say why don't you move to so cal then, but i know that all these tracks like argyll, sandhill, clubmoto, santa clara have a lot of potential just dweebs that are running them. E street is getting there but its still $25 and about 2 hours away from my house. I dont know why you would charge $25 for a track thats not prepped or groomed or anything. Im tired of waisting my money at the local tracks just because someone wont get off their ass and maybe put a little water here and there or rip it with a tractor. I just dont get it, because if the tracks were built better and prepped better the owner would make a lot more money since most of us live here in the bay area.

Re: Norcal mx tracks vs So Cal mx tracks
I have never been to So Cal. What makes the tracks down there so much better? Is it the prep? Do they water more or less? Do they smooth the track out more before the day of riding? Do they change the tracks more often?
What makes the tracks up here unprofessional?

Re: Norcal mx tracks vs So Cal mx tracks
"You've seen vids"? Have you actually been there?
I've been to lots of soCal tracks. Some aren't all that "wide open". Perris and Starwest
(for example) are both relatively small.
Some aren't always prepped perfect. Sometimes the prep downright sucks.
Glen helen? prepped? Ha!
And yes, Land IS an issue. a BIG one. Land up here is way more expensive than in soCal.
Actually I think prep is about the same between norCal and soCal. To me the big
difference is layout and jump sizes. Many tracks (not all) in soCal have at least a
couple really BIG jumps. We just don't get that up here. I'm talking like 100 foot-plus.
So that I agree with. But the prep is about the same.

Re: Norcal mx tracks vs So Cal mx tracks
They change the tracks a lot more often, sometimes they are prepared better. Plus better jumps. Are tracks don't get ripped deep enough. Scott has been doing a better job at changing up his tracks over the last year. But we are not so lucky with hangtown. The only reason it got changes was because of the National. Or it would probably still be the same.
By the way what ever happened to the place that was going to open in Rocklin? Does anyone know?

Re: Norcal mx tracks vs So Cal mx tracks
e-street and hangtown are as good as any track down there but who wants only two tracks to ride. the jumps are bigger down there, the tracks have whoop sections, and rhythm sections, nice big ruts.. and theres at least five to six different tracks.. hopefully when c.m.p. opens things will get a little better

Re: Norcal mx tracks vs So Cal mx tracks
You guys are comparing apples and oranges. If you like them so much more what is stoping you from moving there? Not trying to piss anyone off, but evertrack here when they put a "BIG" jump in only a third of the people jump it and parents start complaining.
The track operators are under a lot of pressure to make everyone happy and I think they do a great job!
I think it is funny. The track in Red Bluff that NEC puts on a series at has some big jumps. Way biggerr than most everywere else. But no one shows up because the dirt is mediocar at best. My point is no one will ever be happy! I bet that they are unhappy in socal too.
DESSERT LAND IS CHEAP!!! NO ONE WANTS IT BUT US CRAZY WIDE OPEN LOONIES!!!
just my two cents

Re: Norcal mx tracks vs So Cal mx tracks
Being from S. Cal myself, then getting out of riding for many years... then moving up here and essentially learning to ride all over again... well... I had to pipe in on this topic (even tho it's old and has been beaten to death).
So... my take is this... yeah, S. Cal tracks are generally speaking, better. On avg, they are prepped better (even tho it is hotter down there), the jumps are better (bigger), and the flow is better (rythem sections, and just a funner, more inspiring layout). Most places down there are larger (more land). So, there is more areas to work with. So, Club and SCMX are "land challenged." But, the new SCMX layout is fun. So, Ralph is doing a good job with what he has. I've still yet to see a super fun layout at club since Kirk's layout about 1.5 - 2 yrs ago, with the original LOF, uphil step-ups, rythem section, etc.
E. St is as good as any S. Cal track. That place has fun jumps, fun layout, great prep, multiple lines, get's rough, etc, etc. It's a "real motocross" track. HT can be good, at least most days I've been there.
Bottom line... S. Cal has more tracks, hence more competition, hence I think each track feels an obligation to stay on top of their game, lest riders will go elsewhere. Plus, there's a lot of pride down there in general about mx. I.e., I think if a track totally sucked all the time, it would be an embarrasment in the capitol of mx land. So, that may be a factor.
I would agree that it would be nicer to have better tracks around the Bay area. If I lived in Sac, I'd have less to complain about, as E, RF, and HT I think are the best tracks around. With the addition of Fish's new track, that area is the place to live if you want great moto in your backyard. For all us suckers down by the Bay, we'll just have to drive far north, or far south if we want the best the state has to offer.
(disclaimer... this is my opinion only... no need for anyone to get butt hurt)

Re: Norcal mx tracks vs So Cal mx tracks
Everyone is entitled to their opinions. You like the tracks better in SoCal and you are entitled to do so however, what you are not entitled to do is make untrue statements about individuals. In your post you write "All the track owners in norcal make plenty of money too make their tracks better but they just sit on there ass(ED; their asses) and do nothing about it". This is a ridiculous/untrue ASSN9 statement with NO merit when it comes to Club Moto and Argyll. I know for a fact, as well do plenty of NCMXer's, that Mike Sexton cares about his tracks and only sits on his ass when he is either on a tractor at the tracks or watering Argyll (Club has H2O hoses about the track). Fine you don't like the tracks around here, can't please everyone but how dare you make untrue/jackass blanket statements about all Norcal track operators.
