ive had a freind who rode his 04 crf 250 r like a 2-stroke. he went through TONS of clutches. i would tear it apart and look at the plates to see if its already groving, check the oil level to see if it IS burning oil, and look at the hub for cracks, untimely wearing, or weird stuff. if u used all stock plates and steels, then u shouldnt have to use a heavier spring, unless they are worn out if u still dont find anything, then umight wanna go to hinson clutch components, i know they are expensive, but the durability and the performance are excuisit. if ur kid uses the clutch on his 4 stroke alot, then that is ur problem.

You might want to try some stiffer clutch springs like Pro Circuit or Barnett. We ride hondas and have had the same problem on the 250F. I have purchased new springs seems to have helped.

Pro Circuit doesnt make stiffer springs for the yamaha 250F because it already has stiffer springs in it than all the other bikes. if you really want stiffer springs i guess you could use the 450 ones. Use Castrol R4 superbike oil, and make sure there is the correct amount of play in your clutch.

Did you make sure the plates are in the correct order First and last fiber are different than the rest and the first metal is different too. Also make sure all of the metal plates are facing the right direction. Lastly, make sure both of the wavy washers stayed in place, they sit under the stack of plates.
Depending on how much you ride, 5 months isn't bad FOR a clutch.

print the page out from yamaha.com with the picture of the clutch and the part numbers and everything, it will show you what order they go in. 5 monthes for a clutch is pretty good if you ask me, i go through them every 2-3 monthes, or 150 hours.

My '02 YZF IS ON the original clutch. I may change it just FOR fun soon. My bike IS also crossing up ON me IN the whoops AND occasionally coming out OF the rut IN LEFT turns. I'm wondering if my RG3 rubber mounts are crushed. The bars and forks don't seem bent AND the top triple clamp IS even WITH the groove IN the fork tube.

lightly hold(or feather) your front break in ruts, it will help your front wheel from jumping out of them.turn the rebound on your forks in so it has less rebound damping.
