Just got this message today on my savemx myspace...

"i spoke with davey coombs today and he was going to see if live nation would let them set up a kiosk to sign the petition starting at atlanta this wkend and every supercross after that. as far as tracks he said all classes are a go. law doesnt state that 12 and under cant compete. so good news so far."

lets keep our fingers crossed!!

Your right about Obama though. He did not even vote on it because he was not present! That seemed to be a habit of his.

It passed so overwhelmingly if Bush had vetoed it it would have been overturned.

All the nay's were republican though.

This is clearly not a Repub vs. Dem issue. This was a bipartisan effort. One of the few, actually. So, the blame does not lie with one party or the other. In fact, I hate to say it, but John McCain any many Repubs were huge opponents of the 25 million part of the recent stimulus bill for ATV trails. In fact, McCain, while on the senate floor during the debate before voting, made particular mention of that part of the bill as wasteful spending and unnecessary. So, I have a hard time saying that one party or the other supports dirt biking. Truth is, based on what I've seen, neither do in the federal govt. There are some local and state reps that are more supportive, and that has more to do with their exposure to the sport, rather than their political affiliation.

Anywayz... apart from the political divide issue and who supports or opposes what, the more interesting and relevant point I notice from the above is how long it took this bill to work it's way through the system. It took nearly 10 months, and during that entire time, no exception was carved out for dirt bikes. I'm sorry, but someone missed the boat on that.

Oh... and as for the idea to publicize this issue at the supercrosses...hmmm... where have we heard that idea before?? Oh yeah... I said it in this very forum. And, instead of just having people sign petitions, as I said earlier, they should take a few minutes during intermission and put the info up on the jumbo-tron so they can be informed of exactly what is going on. They could put up info about contact information, such as emails and ph #'s. They could also ask people to put the ph number into their cell ph right then and there. Then, people can follow up with a ph call the next day. This could and should be done. It would spread the word very fast.
