I am driving in from Nevada this evening. I heard that there is a gate that might be closed. Is that correct? Is there any place to camp until the gate opens if it is closed?
Gate closes at 9PM. Usually chained and locked. If you get there after that, you could just camp in front of it if you had to, (there is a long dirt drive area leading up to the gate) or there is a Wal-Mart right down the street, most Wal-Marts allow RVs overnight in their parking lot.

Well, that sooooks.....
No RV here. I suppose I could park next to an RV and sleep in my car.

Thanks for the info.
There are a few hotels right near the track. Sounds better than sleeping in the car!!!
Beware of "camping" in the Wal-Mart parking lots! We did that ONCE in Elk Grove and a bunch of teenagers thought it would be pretty funny to keep driving in circles and dropping gears and burning out until about 4 in the am! It was kind of funny though, we wished we had thought of that when we were teenagers!
