backrounds and numbers

So most of you know Ive been riding for only a little while and Im confused on race numbers. is there a certain number I should be riding with or theise days can I just choose. I raced with nec two weekends ago and they let me pick. I think the backround colors Are a good idea it will deffinatly help with the problems with racing practice and get rid of at least some sandbaging. Its sad to see some intermediats finishing a half a lap ahead no one in between on a four lap 7 min moto running same times as the pro class. Im going to change my backround to green. I have no problem with being a beginer Ill rock my plates with pride.

Back in the mid to late 70s when I did most of my racing people pretty much adhered to specific plate background and number combos because district 36 was still promoting a lot of races and it was FUN to be able to show you had been able to make it to intermediate or pro by showing your colors!! We still had a lot of sandbaggers then aswell. I would think it would actually help todays promotors if they agreed to a little standardization of plate colors\backgrounds. The WMA uses the light blue background for their pros.

i no mammoth national makes their pro riders where yellow backgrounds, but i dont like running green or red or yellow on a blue bike, who even started this, like a week ago some one jsut randomly stated "this is how it is we need colored backgrounds", why, its just extra cash..personaly, i think its a good idea , the people that want green for beginners or red for intermidiates, let them where it, but it shouldn't be enforced, ALL it IS IS extra money, AND i personaly dont LIKE green AS a background ON a yamaha..im NOT FOR it..but people ARE ALLOWED TO WHERE what ever color they want, AND i LIKE that,b ut it shouldn't be an enforced law, it wouldnt help sandbegging, all they have too do is order a colored background, but, when some one gets to novice and lets say they have too buy blue background and then get advanced to intermidate and have too by red, thats almost $200! in my opion bottom line is, if your a beginner that WANTS to where green, go ahead im all for it, but if you dont want to you shouldn't have too..plus i dont think TO many promoters ARE going TO do this because its just going TO make them loose money AND costumers/racers.

thanks for the advice ill just keep my white backround. I just wanted to make sure that there were no sacred numbers other than #1, so i didnt tread on any one.
