Seized Rear shock

So i think i may have had my rear shock seize on me today at RFP. Plus i blew like 8 spokes on the finish line table.. GAY! And this was after about 2 laps in my first session. They gave me a rain check though so all good.

Anyhow.. anyone ever have a shock seize up? Felt fine when i went out now it barely moves. I know its going to need a rebuild.. just wondering if its a normal rebuild and not going to cost out the wazoo.. Thanks

Nick

Re: Seized Rear shock

usually when they do that you gonna need alot of new parts to make it work again usually the seal head piston shock shaft depending on how bad it is sometimes its better to get a whole new shock off ebay if the shock body is scored badly usually happens due to neglect or serviced incorectly

Re: Seized Rear shock

Thanks for the input. I saw a shock on craigslist the other day. Yeah I got the bike fairly cheap and had to service the forks and do new seals as soon as I got it.

Re: Seized Rear shock

Well if it will work ill bid on it.. i have till 11am tomorrow to figure out if it will work or not! .. Was revalved 3 months ago so it should be to thier 09 specs. And its set up for a 175lb rider so it says.. it looks clean though. Im 195ish with all my gear on so it should work decent.
