"The Board of Supervisors voted 5-0 to approve the noise ordinance after a sparsely attended hearing Tuesday morning."
Sparsely means there wasn't very many people there. Obviously this wasn't important enough to the riders in Southern Cal to attend. This is the price you pay for apathy.

So it sounds to me (excuse the pun)if you could get rid of the noise THEY would not have much of an issue is it possible! I know a lot of performance would be lost with any kind of pipe belowe 96db but if the industry could come up with a bolt on to do away with a lot of the noise that was certified at least it would give the people in riverside some ammo at the next meeting Once again where was the AMA in helping with this issue,I guess worrying about lead levels in the fuel at one of thier supercross events that 50,000 people plus who want to ride on thier own property the next day attended, It makes me laugh when I get the renewal each year in the mail from the AMA of what they are doing for us with the membership money

Hulka529 I agree about low turnout but I think most of the people in the know, knew that this decision had already been made I think it's great that there is a forum for people to try to sway the grandpooba's of riverside county one way or another but these guys had thier minds made up already isn't this the same issue that McGrath had dumped a bunch of money into It's going to come down to lawyers and property right's they will have to go over the grandpooba's of riversides heads

They want way lower sounds than 96 decibles. they want it to be at around 60. there is not way a 450 is going to get that low. there is no way a 250F is going to get that low. It was not a problem years ago when the land in california was alot more spread out, especially in riverside county. but with houses right next to each other, sound has become an issue. I think the main reason alot of socal riders did not attend is because very few of them have thier own tracks because there are so many public riding areas down there that there is no need for privite tracks unless you want to build a supercross track. what is the solution for the sound issue? i can promise you that four strokes are not going to make any less noise any time soon, if ever. why would you buy a pipe that has less horsepower than the stocker? the ama is not going to make strict rules to lower sound, that would just make sales for 4 stroke pipes go way down, plus cause a big problem for privateers. You can not count on the AMA to do anything these days. the only answer is to build tracks in more rural areas where no one will be bothered. the problem is that once houses are built around you, they will complain. a point of view from the other side, hearing a 250F hitting the rev limiter for 5 hours a day when your trying to relax in your backyard by the pool on a sunday is not really ideal for most people. The laws that were past are way too strict. they never pass laws about the noise of lawnmowers, or any of that stuff. for them thats thier job, for alot of people in riverside, motocross is thier job, its not fair to take thier practice tracks away from them.

That's F#%*$in ridiculous!!!! How come they don't regulate the noise from Harleys?? So many people get upset about the noise from dirt bikes but how come nobody complains about the noise from Harleys? Probably 99% of all harleys on the road i'm sure are well above 100db. and nobody says anything. And they are riding through our neighborhoods.

As of right now, noise is the main concern. When I got a ticket it was for "Disturbing the peace" because the noise from my bike was too loud. The only way I see the noise issue going away is to completely rethink MX motors, possibly with the use of electricty, which wont happen for a long long time. The scary thing is, now that riverside has done this, it makes it much easier for other counties too do it aswell.

So did you even bother to fight the ticket in court? I suspect not. My suggestion is to obtain representation next time you are ticketed improperly if you won't represent yourself.
Hopefully nobody on this board will take your ticket as "Case Law" and not ride their bikes on their own property out of fear of being cited for disturbing the peace. If it was that easy, I'd have each one of my neighbor's cited everytime they fire-up their lawnmower or leaf-blower.
The sad fact is that many peace officers will bully their way with people, even improperly cite people to make a problem go away.

The precedent here is HUGE and really, truly SUCKS. This is likely just the beginning of a domino effect. Riders unite! Viva la MX!
