This Bill would effectively BAN ALL Kids
under the age of 16 from riding OHVs!!!

Oregon Senator Alan C Bates (District 3-Ashland) is sponsoring a bill (Senate Bill 49) that would
OUTLAW children under 12yrs of age from riding OHVs. It would also prohibit
kids of the ages 12-15 from riding OHVs over 90cc in displacement!

Summary of Bill 49 (taken from the actual Bill):



"Prohibits operation of all-terrain vehicles by
persons under 12 years of age. Restricts operation of all-terrain vehicles by
persons 12 to 15 years of age based on vehicle engine displacement. Prohibits sellers of all-terrain vehicles from knowingly
selling all-terrain vehicles for use by persons under 12 years of
age or for use by persons 12 to 15 years of age in violation of
engine displacement limitations. Punishes by fine of $90."

This is serious stuff folks, I have already been engrossed in battles in Oregon over motorcyclists rights there and these people mean business. You MX people have to get out there and fight this battle and win this over these wackos up there before it runs rampant again.

This is where we all become a team against 'the other side' and ther're looking to take us out 1 by 1.

Joey I know you have your hands full with this site but maybe if you know people up in the Oregon area you could get a sister site set up there (OR-CAL MX?) to work these issues for them. (If anyone up there is interested of course) I hope they are.

Thanks for the support You guys. This is such crap.....because you know, this mustbe more dangerous than the multi million dollar weed farm bust they had 7 months ago right outside of my city. Damn motorcyclers!!! That must have been our weed too. Here is the email I sent.


Just wanted to know.....what is the point of this? Why do this? Have you people ever seen the joy that riding brings kids? This is a family sport, and tradition for some. You really want to take that away from people? Dont you think this is a waste of peoples time and tax dollars? Because, you know, motorcycle riding must be way worse then the schools going downhill, or the libraries closing, or the drug problems in Southern Oregon. Definately see where our senators priorities are. LOOK AT THESE PHOTOS, and tell me what the harm is in it. I am 21 year old Female, and I race Motocross. You should go to a race sometime....You might have fun. And the little kids fighting for nationals titles.....it teaches them responsibility, discipline..keeps them OUT OF DRUGS and crime. And don't tell me the harm is in potential injury, I have been more severly injured in a car accident by someone driving drunk (breaking my back) than I have riding motorcycles or OHVS with my family. SO, please, take the time to look at these pictures, and respond to me with the reasons of why you are trying to stop one of the oldest family traditions.

They cant just let it be? haha do they not see races like loretta lyns where 3/4 of the kids are under that age, RYAN VILLOPOTO is a damn champion and he was only 17 when he moved up to pros. Good thing he wasnt from oregon!

I've emailed alan bates. for those interested, here's what I wrote:



Dear Senator Bates,

Please repeal proposed Bill 49.

This bill would effectively make it illegal for any child to ride a dirt bike. This is
completely unacceptable! Thousands of kids ride dirt bikes, and many compete
in off-road and/or motocross races. Most of the top motocross racers today
rode and raced dirt bikes as children.

I have a 7-year-old son who rides a KTM 50cc motorcycle and loves it. It's what keeps he and I connected (I ride as well). He learns not only physical agility and stamina, but also comraderie, sportsmanship, and respect for peers. And he has fun.

Shall I refer him to you when this bill passes? When the tears are streaking
down his face because some law guy he never met said he couldn't ride
his dirt bike??

Repeal this bill. It is simply outrageous.

If you're meaning to enforce safety for kids, perhaps create a bill requiring
kids to wear more protective gear. Or take approved training courses. Or
something similar.

Would you also sponsor a bill that makes it illegal for kids to ski? Or snowboard? Or ride skateboards?? What's next, no bicycles either?

By the way, I looked up "class-I" and "class-III". The first is basically
ATVs and quads. The second is dirt bikes. Sheesh.
