It's best to just leave your number plates as they are for your eval rides. After you have been placed in a class is when you have to get your plates.
It is easer for those that are watching you ride if you don't have the same plates as everyone in that class.

Chris, find one of the race directors from the chapter your going to join at your first race. They'll either give you a number to tape on your bike or have you just use yours. Look for the OTHG banner. What race you gonna go too? If I'm there Im more than happy to get you started in the gang....

- just arrive w/ a little extra time, just find one of the race directors from the OTHG ( look for the banner )---- they'll set you up w/ "3" 8x10 sheets of white paper to place over all 3 number plates: w/ E-1, E-2, etc ( evaluation riders )
- you'll need electrical tape ( for high-tech attachment )
- bring your checkbook/ cash/ $50 to join

- and have fun

>>> What class beg/ nov.... age you runn' 30+ / 38+ / 45+ ?

New Bay and Sierra OTHG Races added

The Bay and Sierra Chapters have teamed up to provide 2 separate 4 race series. Check the calendar for more details.

Not sure I fully understand why there is an OTHG club now. At first I thought it was to have fair classes and short race days and sounded really great to me. Now I see that the races will just be joined up with other series', therefore just making the race days even longer since you are adding all of the OTHG races to the regular races.

Am I missing something? Why all of the comments about short race days?

Thanks.

OTHG with EStreet Series

Yea this flyer opens up a bunch of questions;

So all the OTHG chapters are going to be involved in the Estreet winter series? Bay, Sierra, Reno, South?

Insurance cards required for OTHG racing? dont they have their own insurance?
gates fees charged on top of class entrance fees?
support group race classes are the same fees or incl as 2nd class?

Thanks a lot, everyone!

I'm 32 so I guess I'd be in the 30+ class.

My last race was in 03' in the 250 Nov class. I finished 10th out of 12. I think at best, I am borderline Begin/Novice.

I'm hoping to make it out to Carnegie on the 21st but I'm not 100% sure yet. I haven't ridden since early December and I'd like to get some practice time in before the event (unfotunately I've no time to ride this weekend)

Thanks again, and I look forward to meeting you at the races!

-C.

PS: Good point about the long combined race days. I wish the race days were shorter too but for me the attraction to OTHG is also the "fair classes" and the group atmosphere...even though I'm just 32, I feel too old to play mind games with my competitors...I want to race for fun with people I more or less know and can trust. I bet the more people that join up, the better the chances of having OTHG-only races.

You are missing something and it isn't on the web site probably because it isn't finalized yet. But, the CMA OTHG race series that starts in March is on SATURDAY and the races are GANG ONLY. We did the same thing with CMA last year.

So that means you get a short schedule and lots of practice, last year CMA held open practice from 9-1, then racing for the OTHG started after! Plus you can stay overnight and race the regular CMA race on Sunday. And there is usually a good turnout of vets for the CMA races.

The reality is that the gang just doesn't get a big enough turnout for the promoters to run gang only races EVERY time for us. So make sure you hit those Saturday races!!!!

And I agree, I don't much care for long race days so that's why I usually run two classes. A couple of practices and 4 motos usually means I am just recovered enough from my last moto to make it through the next one.

Man - you guys have more questions than a classroom full of 1st graders!

Any of the OTHG members are welcome to race any other chapter's event. But points for the season (top 20 or 25 people at the end of the year get awards) are only awarded for your chapter if it is an "official" event for the chapter.

Because the Bay/Sierra chapters run a lot of the same tracks and we need the turnout, many of their events are points-paying for both chapters. This is the case for both the 4 round E-street series (part of Scott's whole series) and the 4 round CMA series. Some events are double-points too.

The Reno/South chapters usually only join us for the 2-day Nationals that are held each year and sponsored by one of the 4 chapters. The Sierra Chapter National is at Prairie City in April, the Reno National is Memorial Day at Fernley, the Bay Chapter is in September at TBD track, and the South Chapter National is in Oct at Glen Helen.

No. You have to run whatever the promoter requires. I think E-street requires their card or a $5 daily fee. Same with CMA.

gates fees charged on top of class entrance fees?
Always. This is the same at every race for every promoter.

Quote:

In the case of a gang only event where support races are held, yes, the support race is a 2nd class and will be charged accordingly. All promoters give a discount for the second class. I think CMA charges around $30 for the 1st class, and $15 for the 2nd.
