Thanks Sean, hopeful OTHG will start doing riders meetings to remind everyone that there just racing for fun and they all have to go to work tomorrow. I'll be at E st. or Riverfront sometime at the end of the month after i get my permit.

- I've been to 2 races this year so far ( Carniegie & La Grange ).... both times there has been a rider meeting, and this last Sat @ La Grange..... it was made very clear that this is all for fun, respect your fellow riders, ride within your limits.... and a example was given... stating that a fellow OTHG member just got
a broken leg at recent event.... and that this type of racing is unacceptable.
PS: best wishes for speedy recovery to your dad !

Re: OTHG request
All i can say is that this is the dumbest reason to ban 450's i have ever heard of. Don't get me wrong i feel bad for your dad, but honestly can you blame it on the bike, everyone i know who has gone from 250 2-stroke to a 450 4-stroke become much smoother riders because they are easier to ride=not as much work. I am not trying to start a fight or anything but honestly this other dude could have done the exact same thing to any other person on any other bike. I ride the 250F beginner class and i get beat around all the time, and i am riding with other (not to say inexperienced) but just ambitious riders. And all i can say is that for any age group the beginner/novice class is always the same regardless of age, it is always a semi-dangerous class and anything can happen, not to say it doesn't in other classes but more or less more incidents happen in the beginner class. And it is not do to their bikes.
I can understand trying to take aggression out on something/somebody but you cant blame the vast majority of motocross riders bikes, just because one guy messed up. Just find a more believable and accurate source.

Re: OTHG request
Luke, I guess the lesson here is, no matter what sized bike you or anyone else out there is on, accidents/mishaps happen. We just have to accept it as a part of the sport. Its good that you spoke on how you felt about this, through others point of view you may have gotten a different perspective than you had this morning.

Re: OTHG request
To everyone that posted a thread about Luke, lets not forget he's only 14,15 yrs old and he is one of the best young men we have as a human being and if more kids were like him, the world would be a much better place and tell me how many kids his age would MAN UP and say they got a little too emotional and was sorry. Very, very few, if any. And while we dont do DMV test for riders as to whether they can handle the size of engine displacement/weight, everyone knows there are people that dont belong on 450's. Joey Washburn manned up when he was having trouble handling his 450, got a 250 and now is having a blast. Lets give Luke and his family all the support they need at this time. I know what a tibial plateau injurys like and Lukes dads lucky it didnt need an artificial knee like mine does. We should be praying for Pete Miller (and 555) for full recoveries, not criticizing a kid for seeing his dad get hurt and expressing an opinion, especially kids say things before they think. The Miller brothers have been racing for longer than practically all of us put together and they do know the risks. Give the Millers all your prayers since they have been supporters of this sport for much of their lives. Speedy recovery, Pete! andymoto

The OTHG stresses a safe and fun riding experience as noted above. The meeting was a reminder of why we need to be safe. We all want to come home in 1 piece. If you get a trophy, then you did good.
We do watch out for riders who are unsafe and reckless, these riders are talked to and if they still don't ride safe, they are asked to pack up and leave. I've been to races where this has happened, although it's rare that we see recklessness. Just go to the OTHG Race Director to voice your concern.
I do wish your Dad a very speedy recovery.

Thanks Moto, my dad will have to have his knee replaced in 20 years. One of my uncles would be out for blood if he knew the number of the guy that landed on my dad.

Re: OTHG request
Hey Luke,
I've been with the OTHG for about three years now and I was also involved in a crash with another rider on sunday (not your dad) but this was only the second time Its happend in three years. Thats pretty good for motocross and when we crashed the other guy made sure I was alright before we rode off. Thats really what the OTHG is about, trying to make the races as safe as possible and watching out for eachother,I hope you and your dad will come back and race with us again. Hang in there...

keeping it real
Just a quick comment. I joined OTHG last year, and was placed in the expert class, although last year I was on a 250 two stoke and basically, got my clock cleaned more than once by guys on 450's. Nothing intentional, but they just had more power than me and could blast me in corners, and if I was in their line or otherwise in their way, no one seemed shy about moving me out of the way. Don't misunderstand what I'm saying.. no one made blatent contact with me (although I've been bumped more than once) and no one attempted to take me out. Yet, it's wasn't a game of powder puff...at least not in the expert class. Guys in that class are on the gas and want to do well.
Also, I'm not complaining one bit. If I was in the shoes of these other guys coming up on me on my two stroke fanning the cluth and looking for traction, while they were grunting through the corner with more momentum, I'd want my ass out of the way too, and running it in hard on me was to be expected. I like the fact that we're out there racing, that it is dangerous, which means thrilling and exciting, and that I was being pushed.
I worked hard last fall and got a 450 so I could run with guys that were pushing me around last year. That's racing, and that is what motivates me to do this gig.
Motocross racing is not for everyone. If people cannot honestly accept the notion that any motocross racer is either injured or between injuries, they need to seriously reconsider this hobby.
Last year alone, I broke my pelvis, two ribes, and ankle. The year before, separated my shoulder, tore my ACL/MCL, and broke my other ankle. Not to sound tough, but I accept that I got hurt, and that I will without a doubt get hurt again. If I make it to the end of 07 without a broken bone, I wll be shocked!! But again, all the enjoyment of racing close far outwieghts the injuries.
If I get rubbed a little, as long as someone isn't intentionally aiming to punt me off the track, then no big deal. If racing got toned down too much to where it was totally safe (and gay), I wouldn't want to do it.
I"m sure someone will tell me that my above opinion is muffled because I'm talking out my butt... if so, go ahead. Let's hear why racing should be toned down so it is safe.
Racing will never be safe, and I for one am glad it isn't. If I wanted safe, I could sit on my ass in the safety of my living room and eat doritos in front of the tube and watch other people play thrilling (and dangerous) sports.
