Classifications Ideas
One of the key differences between MX racing and BMX racing is the number of promoters. In BMX you have NBL (mostly East Coast) and ABA (mostly West Coast). In MX we have E Street, AMP, Mutant, CMC, and more. Most promoters, dont seem to get along with each other all that well, so if a kid wins 85 beginner at E Street, the chance of AMP racing knowing that he is supposed to be moved up are slim. So I think if we can focus on just one promoter first, then maybe other promoters will follow suit. Beginner - You can race in the beginner class, be it age based, bike sized base or whatever until you win an overall. You can win motos, but as soon as you put together an overall win, you are moved up in ALL of your classes. If you race 30+ beginner and 250 beginner and you win 30+ beginner, then you are moved up to Novice all the way around. (the exception would be if there are only 2 people in your class in which case if you win a race series for your class then you are moved up) Novice - You can race in the Novice class until you win a race series that is 5 races or or greater. If you can string together an overall series win over the span of 5 races then you are clearly good enough to be moved up the Inter class. This will give the faxst racer who is incosistent the chance to win some races and not be forced to move up to the next class before he/she is ready Inter - This class you can stay in forever, there is no forced move out of this class. You can peetition to be moved back to Novice, however if you win one race then you are back to Intermediate where you cannot go back again. Most people here race more than I do, so tell me if I am way off base. |

So... what if you start a series as a beginner and win one, do you move right away or after the seies ..cuz if you move someone each week in a series.. the series winner will be the last guy who didnt win anything...whew...Ok i'll breath now...

I like your ideas alot. The problem is though, we got kids doing ameatuer nationals. At local races they maybe the fastest guy, but then they go to an amateur national and dont even finish in the top 10. So I think that is where sandbagging starts. But something for sure needs to be done on a local level. It seems like there are some novice riders as fast as pros.

I know CMC does keep track of points and bumps riders up once a year like in March, like I have 18 points and they said 24 point to bump up, last year I got 2nds and 3rds,now maybe I can win! I think if you win a couple of series and win week after week you should move up. And you can move yourself up ,just enter in the next class up and go!
