Stolen bikes @ E-St. 8/11.......

First off, this is Bryan's mom, Karen. I would like to put out a word to all parents and riders....LOCK UP YOUR BIKES!!! This morning @ E-St.our kids, Bryan and Brandi woke up to find out that 2 of the kids they attended Scott's camp with over the summer, had their bikes stolen sometime during the nite. This was very disturbing to them because the toy hauler they were stolen from was parked behind us and they had become friends with these kids at camp. From what I've heard, this happens everywhere-wherever there is an opportunity for low-lifes to steal something that doesn't belong to them, given the chance, they will do it. The look on both of the boys faces were horrible and I am sure the parents feel like crap. Wal-Mart sells cables for as little as $19.00 and locks are pretty cheap too. Alot cheaper than the cost of 2 new bikes. The bikes stolen were a 07' CRF 150 R and a KTM 65. Both bikes were bought for the camp in July. So, take the time to lock up everything and bring in your gear, boots, helmets, etc. at the end of the nite. It only takes a few minutes and you'll be able to practice in the morning rather than spend the morning filling out a police report for your stolen property.

A 19 dollar lock can be cliped in less than 1 second by some nice bolt
cutters spend some real money and get a quality lock there usually 100+

True! But to the theives scoping things out in the middle of the nite, 2 unlocked bikes as opposed of 2 bikes with cables, chains or whatever, are much easier to steal. Besides, the theives were most likely cranksters or dope fiends that probablly already hocked their bolt cutters for a baggie!

That sucks. That place has got to have the record for the track you are most likely to get your bike stolen from.

Re: Stolen bikes @ E-St. 8/11.......

I wouldn't necessarily say that. Unfortunately, the track is located in the middle of alot of open spaces that are frequented by some undesirables and we all know that these type of people are lazy and it's easier for them to steal than get a job. Whether it is E St. or anywhere else, theives are rampent in this day and age and it's in our own best intrest to protect our property. It's a shame when a family can't enjoy a weekend without the threat of theft. What kind of message does this send to our kids?

Re: Stolen bikes @ E-St. 8/11.......

I only placed this post as a heads up to lock up your stuff. Wherever it may be that bikes get stolen, the sad truth is that it happens. It's nothing against E St. We (our whole family) work for Scott and Lindsay and we take care of our stuff. We put it all away at the end of the day and load our bikes back on the trailer (even if we are riding the next day!) and lock them up. We have been riding there for over a year and spending the nite on the weekends, and "knock on wood" we have never had anything stolen. I am sure you wouldn't leave your bikes or other belongings unlocked in a grocery store parking lot or out in front of your house, so why take that chance when you are traveling to the races on the weekends? Please, let's NOT bash E St. for this!!!!

Hey thanks for the valuable info! Here is another site to check out: ALARM IT CABLE LOCKS These things sound like they would send the thieves running for the hills! 120db screeching alarm!
Also...in the same catalog as the above link (WPS..) on the next page, is a cool "brake rotor" alarm. Clip it on the rotor and if they try to wheel the bike away, a 110 db alarm will wake even the soundest sleeper up! I don't know about everyone else, but we don't have the $$ to replace everything we have!
