Brace Yourself: Riverfront Review!!
Today was my first time going to Riverfront since Scott Davis took over and I have to say he must be doing a fine job because that place is a freakin zoo. Biggest turnout I have seen at any track on a practice day in a long, long time.
As for the tracks:
(The Main Track)
Was prepped and ready to ride when we got there in the morning. First one on the track and wasn't to bad. They don't till it very deep at all so if you like a really smooth and flat track that still has good dirt and traction this is the track for you. This track is the perfect def of a beg/nov track and the turn out proves it. The jumps are small and safe and the track is like riding on a watered dirt highway. It is still fun for fast int/pros but you need to get there early and you can get in two good rides before it gets so crowded it isn't safe for pros to be out there any more.
Track Rating (beg/nov 10/10 int/pro 6/10)
(The new Back Track)
This was the real reason why I came to riverfront today and I was a little disapointed when I went to go ride on it at 9:00 and it hadn't been watered at all. As a result the water never really soaked into the dirt very well during the day. The track was about (1:10 minutes) at pro speed and I would say it had good nov/int style jumps. There isn't anything to hardcore but it did have one section I never saw anyone else do during the day. There is decent whoop, one big triple, a bunch of fairgrounds style doubles, a cool step down, one split section (even though it is the same on both sides) and a really fun and super long ryth section. If this track got tilled deep and watered hard the night before like a place like Argyll it would be a great upper skill level track. As it was it was a good time, but the huge marbles all over the track kept it from being great. If you are a beg you probably won't have much fun on this track. If you are a decent Novice/int/pro you will like it.
Track Rating (Layout 9/10 prep 6/10)
Overall the main track is the exact same layout/prep as it has always been and the new back track shows that Scott is making an effort to also cater to the needs of faster riders. Once he gets the prep down on the back track it will be off the hook.

Re: Brace Yourself: Riverfront Review!!
I saw you out there on the back track Prozach, you were going at a pretty good pace! The back track was quite rough today but you have to admit it has a great layout. It is great to have two prepped tracks at the same facility. I didn't even ride the front track today, stayed on the back where it was more challenging.

I would have to agree! Went through 2 tanks of gas Sunday and left with a big smile on my face. The back track is a very nice change from the normal NorCal track. Hopefully it continues to evolve and people don't get hurt trying things above their ability so that Davis doesn't feel pressured to tame it down.

OK, OK, I won't ride the back track until the beginners kick me off the easy track. You all should be safe back there for at least a few more months!
