It looks like writing to these guys has a good effect!
Dear Mr. Moe:
Thank you for contacting me regarding your concerns regarding wilderness designations. I appreciate you taking the time to share your concerns with me.
Representative Mary Bono (R-CA) introduced the California Desert and Mountain Heritage Act (HR 3682) on September 27, 2007. This legislation would designate certain Federal lands in Riverside, California as wilderness and designate certain river segments as a wild, scenic, or recreational river. The House Natural Resources Committee is currently reviewing this legislation.
Please know I understand your concern regarding this issue. While I am a strong advocate of protecting our nation's public lands, I also understand the need to protect public access and recreational use of these lands. Additionally, I believe that the comments and views of all those potentially impacted should be considered when crafting wilderness legislation. Rest assured that I will keep your comments firmly in mind should HR 3682 come before the House of Representatives for consideration.
Again, thank you for sharing your thoughts with me. Please continue to contact me on all issues of importance to you and to our district.
Sincerely,
MIKE THOMPSON
Member of Congress
