Anybody know about them?

All I know that they were from the Redding/Shasta areas and were waiting in front of their legislators office to have a chat with the lawmaker. I asked cause of all the Moose Racing Shirts. FYI

Yes a petition could be done online, but as you can see it is simply another tool to express an opinion of what YOU as a voter would like the powers-that-be to do. A petition is not a binding order or anything legal that forces the gov, feds, or motorcycle athiasts to change their direction. A letter from YOU personally to your respected assemblyperson and senator would do the same thing and get alot further.
Petitions are not a save all... but none the less another resource. As this one represents from Kern County; you can see it is a "NON-Resident" petition, so that means that people from outside our area can pitch in and help us too just as we would help them.
Sign up on their petition and hopefully they will sign ours when the need arises.... always remember that "one hand washes the other..."

Re: State Capitol Meeting info
People want to help when it comes to land issues but many, such as myself, are clueless as to what exactly needs to be done, when and where, etc.
I think that it would help out alot if there was a forum or a specific place to go here on norcal to find out the latest information and issues at hand. It is easy for important things such as land use issues to get lost in the crowd of posts under the All Things Motocross section.
We have land issues brewing here in NV, but thus far it seems that us Nevadans are somewhat disorganized when it comes to bringing together a united front. I do know that having a Land Use Issues section on one of the local desert racing boards makes it much easier for me to find the information that is most important.
If I can ever help with anything in California when it comes to this stuff I will because what happens with you guys is usually on its way to us!

Yes is it a State wide issue, Thanks for pointing that out Carl. Sometimes we get influenced only by our local dealings... As you can see though Kern County people have chosen to deal directly with Kenr County Officials at a local level.
We may need to do that here in YUBA and SACRAMENTO Counties also.
The confusion comes when you have to deal with Laws, regulations, codes, ordinances and MONEY at local, state and federal levels.... There are many places to lose grip of the ball.... so to speak.
Ill start an educational thread....

Paul,
Just because a comment isn't posted on this site doesn't mean we don't care and are not interested. I have read your and Andy's comments with great interest. I too have been to many meetings fighting for our sport, as well as others who frequent this site. Don't be too discouraged at the lack of responses. Remember, 75% of those on this site are not old enough to vote and could care less about these topics. I know when I was 16 something of this nature was the last thing on my mind. Hang in there. I for one, (as I'm sure many others feel the same) appreciate your dedication to the two wheel community. This goes for Andy too. Keep up the good work guys. IT IS APPRECIATED!

Paul-what about the petition to recall Governor Davis? what about the petitions to put issues on election ballots? I think that it should be consideration; not a petition with a bunch of sigs saying "quit stealing money from the green sticker fund?" Petitions to vote on something like this issue may be dangerous- with another Al Gore contribution-global warming feeding frenzy (and Im not saying there may be no truth to it), I believe when Green Sticker prog was voted into law, it had good support from voters. But if we cant get support from industry on just these little battles, how in the heck are we going to get them to participate, help fund ballot measures/the proposition we petition to get on ballot? Everybody too busy upgrading 5 bedroom homes to 8, 9 10 and there maybe 2 people that live in it? Oh shoot, my neighbors just got a vette, gotta go to ferrari dealer- Mentality is the I gotta one up everyone type. And even like Mike #449, I fought battles even further back. Walmarts, Costcos is just going to take over places to ride like they have in past. Yeah lets hope they sign ours. I was just thinking if AMA, 36, blue ribbon, corva would get together on another initiative that we can get the sigs and try-we got a while before propositions have to qualify. Suggestion.

I agree... The green sticker program has been a model program for the rest of the country that we should be proud of. What we have to STOP is the diversion of these funds from maintenance and care of our trails to what the eco-pigs are calling 'conservation efforts' to further their campaign to let every flower sniffing fudge packer out there go and play in the weeds with his boyfriend.... thats what has to be STOPPED right now.
So yes a petition could be drafted that states "Use the funds for trail maintenance and replenish the sites back to the standards required for riding the trails so as to prevent further impact to the surrounding areas which the non-maintenance of these sites is the cause of."
These eco-pigs are causing the damage by not providing maintenance and then turning around and trying to blame it on the users of the trails when in actuality it is mother nature. Its the "circle of life" syndrome....
We maintain it and it will be ok.... we dont and it will get more damage.
Money needs to be spent on thr trails and putting people to work on the trails.... AMA isnt doing **** to help on this other then taking money from people to give to other people that say theyre doing something and nothing ever gets done. Ask your AMA rep when was the last time he was at any event? and SVRA park? an OHV park? Talked with a Forest Ranger? ask him....

ThumperTalk.com has a "Land Use/Legislation" section in their forums. I think putting that stuff in it's own section is a bit of a double-edged sword though, while you make it easier to find, you also make it easier to ignore. With that and the fact that NorCal is still relatively small in terms of readers and post count (compared to TT), I think sticky-ed messages in the main forum would work better. JMHO.
